Gerald A.H. Cree, Instructor
Gerald is a Gold-Seal certified construction management professional with over 30 years’ experience managing large-scale residential, commercial, industrial and environmental projects throughout Western Canada and the United States. His experience covers all aspects of construction management including; design, development, estimation, project planning, tendering and procurement with additional expertise in civil, structural, electrical and mechanical disciplines. Throughout his career, Gerald has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to professional development and has successfully achieved certification in many areas, notably: Project Management Professional (PMP), Master of Project planning and Construction Law and is presently working towards his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEEDS) certification. Gerald brings an in-depth knowledge of the industry met with real world experience to his role as instructor for the Canadian Construction Institute.
Fazal Bhimji, Instructor
Fazal Bhimji, Cert. ConRes, BSc, CMed, has been involved with conflict resolution since 1991. He is an active mediator/arbitrator, a Provincial Court Mediator and a member of several mediation rosters including the BC Mediator Roster Society (Civil) and the Public Service Labour Relations Board (Fed.). He has handled construction disputes as an arbitrator on the Better Business Bureau of Mainland BC roster as well other arbitrations for the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. He is a conflict resolution coach at the JIBC Centre for Conflict Resolution and an instructor at the Centre for Leadership. He has prepared and delivered training programs for the Canadian Air Traffic Control Association and other clients in the Lower Mainland. He is in charge of training for Vancouver Control Tower.
Don White, Associate
Former President of Canadian Construction Institute Inc. and presently Director of Conflict and Decision Management Centre. Expert in Arbitration, mediation, and dispute resolution for construction related disputes since 1992. Facilitator of partnering and project alignment workshops, dispute resolution techniques for companies, associations, and construction projects/contracts. Consultant for: private business; employers and employees of small to medium size businesses; Business Development Bank of Canada; Worker's Compensation Board; Human Resources Development Canada.
Karen Schmieg, President/Owner
Karen Schmieg comes to the construction education industry with a wealth of experience in upper-level management, human resources, and adult training. She has been instrumental in cultivating opportunities in new and existing markets, and growing demand for CCI Gold Seal courses across Canada. Her passion for quality training, using the latest approaches and techniques from the ever-changing construction industry, has made CCI a leader in construction management training.
Ian Montgomery, Executive Director
Ian has more than 30 years of experience assisting private and public sector organizations improve their performance. This includes significant hands-on experience with all aspects of large scale capital projects throughout the project life cycle from initial business planning through procurement as well as project execution. Ian has worked extensively with organization involved in construction, engineering, trades training and certification, workplace safety, land use regulation and other related fields. Ian holds a Bachelor of Science degree and an MBA, both from the University of British Columbia.
Lisa Gillard, Administration Manager
Lisa is your first point of contact and her role provides critical support to our students, partners and instructors. She brings a fresh perspective and a wealth of knowledge and experience from her background in business management, sales and marketing. Lisa comes from a family of master carpenters and has a great deal of respect for the skill and talents of those working in the Canadian construction industry. She is very excited to be a part of the CCI team and welcomes the opportunity to support construction professionals in achieving their Gold Seal Certification.
